In my experience, NE1k and NE2k clones are readily available and common
here in the USA. They generally run $5-$10 (as low as $3 in quantity,)
with older models often given away rather than sold. Old 3-COM 3Cxxx cards
are also readily available, but they are often more expensive than
NE1k/NE2k clones, and I've heard they usually give better performance
(although I've not verified this.)
That being said, I doubt that the prices of these old cards will have any
affect whatsoever on which drivers are written first for ELKS.
