Hmm I'm find out something interesting.
Could you please checkout this voodoo magic :)
Try to download this file:
ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/andrea/ikd/v2.2/2.2.14-ikd1.bz2
apply the patch and add these options -
CONFIG_KERNEL_DEBUGGING=y
CONFIG_SEMAPHORE_DEADLOCK=y
CONFIG_NMI_WATCHDOG=y
CONFIG_NMI_WATCHDOG_IRQ=0
All of them are located in the last kernel hacking sections.
(called semphore deadlock detector & SMP-IOAPIC NMI....)
As I'm using few other patches I had to resolve coupld of rejects,
but for this moment I was unable to kill my machine with ping -f
and netscape over nfs.
I suppose its adding a little overhead to SMP locking - but the
machine still looks quite powerfull....
So please check if you still get the locks with
your hda copy and ping -f.
