Guy,

Have you dried booting off your Mandrake CD or Linux root floppy and
tried to mount your old root as a file system on kernel running off the
CD/Floppy?  You might have to do an fsck first to get it mountable?

Sorry, if I missed some elses post on this if some one has already said
this.
