60% of the Windows user base. This was a simple VB script for which

You are incorrect here. CRACKERS {not hackers} target Microsoft
not because it's the largest OS user base! It's because they
are the most security flawed in the business. They have the easiest
OS to trash. CRACKERS are generally lazy people who don't go to
extremes to write viruses. Certaintly ILOVEYOU wasn't an extreme.
CRACKERS are like HACKERS in the respect that they are *BOTH* sick
of OS's with holes in them. Especially the kind you *HAVE* to pay
large quantities of cash to get into and don't run well to boot.
CRACKERS are like HACKERS in the respect that they appreciate a
good running OS and the OS's which don't run well they despise.
Microsoft just happens to have an OS which doesn't run well,
is despised and further is a peice of swiss cheese in the
security department. There are more way's to CRACK a Microsoft
OS than I can think of way's to PEE in a forest.

None of which explains the large number of viruses which could have
been written ONLY with knowledge gained by looking at MS source code.
Quite obviously, M$ has been getting hacked and having their source
code stolen for YEARS.
