Yes, if you are completely ignorant of computing technology, EF will
be able to inform you of things you previously did not know.

However, if you are someone who started programming 20 years ago, studied
computer systems engineering at one of the 10 best universities in the world
for such studies, has worked for several years doing systems engineering,
administration, and related tasks, and now works as a consultant at VERY
high hourly rates.... then it is very easy to see that for every intelligent
thing EF says, he says another 20 that are completely contrary to reality.

Even a stop clock is correct twice a day.

And one that runs at 3x speed is correct 6 times/day.

Neither of which implies that the clock is a trustworthy indicator of the
time.

NOBODY knows what the fuck .NET is.

It's vaporware. That's why the descriptions are sooooooo vague.

It's all "it will allow you to [blah blah blah]"

When somebody tries to sell me on something ONLY by telling me, not what
the product itself does...but what I'm supposed to achieve using it...well,
my bullshit meter gets pegged REAL quickly....who says I can't achieve that
same results just as well WITHOUT this product?

You're saying that the CAE guys have TWO computers on their desks?

You live in a rather small and sad world.

In the real world, Java is becoming as dominant in distributed
computing as Mafia$oft products are on the desktop. And, yes, that
dominance concerns me, since I'm now seeing it used even in situations
where it isn't appropriate. But it concerns me far less than it would
if it were a single-vendor, single-platform product, with no source
available, manufactured by an organized crime racket instead of a
law-abiding company or organization.

Mafia$oft's crimes have indeed delayed the acceptance of Java on the
desktop, but lots of folks are finding that Java desktop applications
(not applets) can overcome many of the limitations of a thin-client
architecture while retaining most of its advantages. So don't count
it out there either. There is a need for Java on the desktop, and
whatever its real or perceived limitations in that role may be, it's
not going to go away until either the need disappears, or something
comes along that can better fill that need.

LIAR.

Java already DOES conform to a standard defined in published documents.

Microcrap was trying to debase Java by adding Microcrap-only extensions,
which violates the entire purpose of Java in the first place.

And THAT is why they eventually cried UNCLE in the Sun suit...because they
didn't want the public to get a peek at all the internal memos showing that
Microcrap managers FEAR AND LOATH the concept of software that isn't tied
down to Microcrap platforms.

True...so, based on the fact that the Windows kernel code has gotos
at a frequency greater than 5%, then there must be an INCREDIBLE amount
of exception-handling in the Windows kernels...

With all of that exception handling, how does anything else get done?
