No...it's not that.
It's that MIMD just doesn't work....not only at the practical level,
but even at the theoretical level...

Depending on how new the newbie, it can be like this (this is my
experience which proves to me that NO GUI, not wven Windows is intuitive)
Me: Click on the start button
Newbie: What ?!
Me: You see `Start' in the bottom left of the screen
Newbie: Yep. Doesn't look much like a button.
Me: Um. Well, you can push it (bu clicking on it) so it works like a
button. Anyway, move the mouse over it.
Newbie <moves mouse>
Me: Now click on it with the left button.
Newbie: <Clicks on button> Hey! why did it go away?
(The newbie dragged a little bit when clicking and the menu disappeared)
Anyway, it went on like this for a while until she picked it up.
It has to be said that she never had a problem with the keyboard. The GUI
was the main source of problems.

It does. You dump out postscript, and let the printer/filter deal with
it. Any app can print to any printer.

I just appreciate the lack of noise. You will notice that I have received no
responses to this or Microsoft's SBS 2000 versus Linux article from any
steadfast Microsoft supporter. They're embarrassed at Microsoft's conduct.
That's fine. Sometimes silence can be deafening.
This is a very funny commentary on how anti-Linux rhetoric has shifted over
the years:

It's not a question of running "well" or not..it's a question of being
able to even writing a compiler that can produce reliable object code.

If yes (on the first question): do you have to install it via Windows-itself
or via MS-DOS?

You don't even need that... We're talking about something the size of
a softball. You can merely make a sphere with a cylinder hollowed out
of it...and a matching cylinder which drops (by gravity) into the
hollowed-out space. Then make a time-delay device that gives you a
two-hour delay.
Simply setup the suitcase in a janitor's closet in a sky-scraper...
Super-glue the thing into place so that nobody tampers with it.
The only thing that is beyond the means of run-of-the-mill terrorists
is getting their hands on enough plutonium.

Actually, the classic Greek mythology did have a divine entity which
comes very close to the definition I gave; they called her Fate.
Most pantheistic religions are more akin to animism, but 'evolved'
pantheism will usually include a creation myth.
What I was trying to make clear is that to a modern, monotheistically
inclined, religeous person (I really should have included those
limitations; that's what you get for assuming too much) God is the
first cause. There is no need to come up with meta-god or grandad god,
because the line (that's the line of causality, that is) stops at God.
That is also the reason why a religeous person shouldn't be bothered
with trying to find an explanation for God, because He _is_ the
explanation.
Is there a philosophy newsgroups somewhere where this discussion would
not be so wildly off-topic?
