What a joke.

In other news, has anyone used Windows XP yet? I had the pleasure of
seeing it yesterday; they did a pretty good job of ripping off MacOS
X: instead of translucent blue, they offer a greenish hue. They'll
probably add in the Genie minimize effects before it finally ships.
This is probably because some Apple engineer sent email to another
friend who had it relay through MSN, and hence, became the property of
Microsoft. After all, they don't have to obey copyright law when it
doesn't suit them.

Remember good old MFC, with the "AFX" prefix that means "Application
Framework Experimental"? Another load of Microsoft crap.

Sounds like a good idea to put the clause into the licence agreement.
MS definitely has good legal advice, as this clause most likely eliminates a
ton of frivolus lawsuits. Also, for those not in the know - licence
agreements supercede copyright laws.

OK...tell me the last thing you installed on Windows with InstallShield
(you know InstallShield...the thing you want to emulate for Linux). Now
tell me where InstallShield put all the *dll, *.exe, *.inf files for that
application.

Here is some constructive criticism for you. There are many parts of your
suggestion/request that are just plain bad ideas. There are GUI interfaces
for RPM and there is room for improvement in this area, sure. But you
can certainly get a lot more information out of rpm and *.rpm files than
you can out of ANY installshield install package.

So telling you your idea is bad is running you down. Sorry.

So how much time have you spent rebooting your Windows machine after installing
a new program with InstallShield on Windows?

Chad Myers said the following after praying to Bill Gates:

I find it incredible that no even Chad Myers can defend this Microsoft
license. All he can do is tell us that it probably won't stand up in
court. That's your defense?!

bad idiot. And the Nazi economy was based on cartels. But then cartels
are a right wing approach to business. In America we were a little
more honest about cartels we called the leaders of such robber barons.

Well, the physical address bus is 36 bits these days, which means 64gb,
but the virtual address space for processes is still 32 bits or 4gb. The
physical address extensions (PAE) were introduced in the Pentium Pro
series, and AMD included support for them in the Athlon (K7). These
extensions require modifications to the page tables and thus, OS support.

I know that I felt the same way when my only computer exposure was older Apple
II lines and PCs. Once I had some experience in the unix area, and saw how
seamless moving from machine to machine was, and what could be done, I haven't
wanted to go back. I think the same is true for the vast majority of people
that prefer unix and unix like systems.

It makes much more sense to have systems (like we have at work) where the
desktops are decent machines, but the massive horsepower for jobs that need
more power are in computer rooms... then users can run what they need to on
the large machines, and you don't have to spend huge amounts of money putting
a huge machine on every desk. Even with 3rd party apps, windows still isn't
as seamless in these types of setups.
