Hey! I used to watch "When Buildings Collapse" and I don't buy microsoft

In my 3 years of using OS/2 back in the early 90'ies, I don't recall
that happening even once. Invalid drivers could, yes. But once that
problem was over, I never experienced DOS programs even remotely getting
close to this.
Btw. I had a BBS system running out of my OS/2 box at home - that was
several DOS programs, running in VDM's. I never had a box crash on me,
even if the BBS programs did (which was the reason I moved from DOS/QEMM
to OS/2).

I started pre-warp and ended on Warp, and never saw this problem. Can
you give me an example on a situation where the crash happend in
(consistently of course).
> However, it was a nice feature when it worked (most of the time).
All of the time - however, IBM never fixed some of the bigger problems,
like opening up for more applications and it's crazy installation
system.

Religious connotations aside, I agree. I do get quite cynnical when righ
people use charity as a gigantic billboard. That's not what it is for,
and it shouldn't be used s one. On the practical side, is it al that bad
since the result is more money to charity which can not be all bad.

If I were a man and some woman was trying to pin me as the father
of a child that was not mine, no amount of money would be too
expensive, because whatever the cost is, it would be less than a
lifetime of costs that were not my responsibility.
And I was under the impression in the cases of questionable
paternity that a DNA sample could be demanded. I cannot picture a
court or other such institution demanding a man pay when he is in
doubt of being the natural father.

SuSE 7.1 is currently stocked at CompUSA and Best Buy.
If that's failure, then we need more failures.

Actually, the browser-as-GUI idea was conceived by MS as a way to "weld"
IE into Windows to steal the browser market share away from Netscape.
Even in Windows, the browser is not actually the GUI -- it's merely a
unified piece of software that contains a Window Manager, file manager,
and browser. It's just an illusion; it only looks as though a browser
is the window manager. It's sort of like gzip, how it sometimes acts as
gzip or zcat, depending on how it is invoked (the value of argv[0]). I
suppose Explorer is the same way.
