gainfully employed people, for whom time is far more valuable than
money. The "free" we care about is freedom, not price.
When you consider the cost in time, Linux takes some time to learn up
front, and therefore can be viewed as being initially more expensive

Well, Opera 5.0 that was just released for Linux this week is free, as
well as the Windows version. You do get ads but they are even less
intrusive than the ads in Cuteftp IMO. They are in the top right hand
corner of the window and small on a 1280x1024 screen.
U can get the windows version w/ or w/o java. With java its 9 megs and
they recommend it unless u got opera 4.x with java already. The linux
version is made using Qt and u can get a statically or dynamically
linked version. Dynamicaly which is what i chose to download is only 1.5
megs and i think it requires qt 2.2.4 or something like that. The
statically linked is 3.0 megs. I downloaded both the windows and linux
versions last night but have only tried the windows version so far. I
like it. It's very fast and even includes a mail and news client.
The only bad thing about the Linux version so far is that I dont believ
they have it using Java yet.
