I don't think he's referring to the current state, or the
way things were way back when. I think he's referring to
the ideas and ideals that are genius. In such a case, I
would agree, to the logical extent that such ways are the
most realistic ideals to date.

It is my contention that most politicians, be they
Democrat, or Republican, are fscking morons. Look
at how McCain has been waffling along. IMHO, Bush
just happens to be one of the few exceptions to the
rule.

Did you know that out here in AZ, we actually had a Rep.
advocating the idea of having a "state dirt"? I couldn't
believe that one. Another case of a pot-smoking lib
dressing like a Rep, IMHO.

Stating that you have *PLONK!*'ed someone, only
to reply yet again, is absolutely absurd. If you
didn't put me in your filter, then why the fuck
did you say so? It speaks volumes about your
credibility.

Likely, yes. Were you expecting me to disagree with
you? We also screwed up post WWII, when we had the
chance to take the USSR then as well. We also screwed
up in Vietnam, limiting our own army with that 38th
parallel baloney. If you think the intent of this
discussion was to illustrate how the U.S. is "superior"
or "perfect" then you missed the point entirely.

I simply stated that
I was a patriot. drsquare and, I think you, stated
that such an attitude was stupid. Then, in accordance
with Godwin's principle, the discussion degraded into
a discussion about the Nazis, at which point, I
demonstrated how Europe fell to the Nazis simply
because they didn't band together, which is what
people do when they are patriots of their homeland,
even if they share it with another nation (like how the
U.S. and Canada are basically considered sibling nations).

My mistake. I was mixing that one up with something
else. The law was created in 1987. It's still stupid.

> Under which president was the law created?

Reagan, but it was pushed by a Democratic
Congress, and seemed like a good idea at
the time, due to the enormous amount of
drunk driving accidents that were occurring.

So, why haven't the Dems done anything to change
it? Merely a demonstration that they can't seem
to do anything that doesn't fill their own
pocketbooks.

It's the typical pattern.

There is a problem, therefore, we make a law.
That new law makes new problems, so we make more
laws to address the new problems. Those new
laws spawn yet even more problems, ad. nauseum.

You people are like a virus... self-replicating.

Tobacco has nothing to do with the topic you brought
up. Besides, there have been warning labels on those
things for years. If people are stupid enough to
go ahead and smoke, regardless of warnings as to what
it will do to their health, then the hell with them.

If you come across a wooden box with hole in it, that
has a sign next to it saying "do not put your hand in
this hole", are you going to do it? If you are, then
God bless Darwin's theories. Bet you won't do it again.

> Who goes after tobacco companies year in and year out.

Right. It's liberals, who think that people need
their protection. Why can't people be free to make
their own choices? Let me guess... "because people
don't know what's good for themselves", right?

"Don't teach them... that gives them power... merely
instruct them on how to act, and do what we want them
to do."

It's my contention that you don't live in ANY
mindset at all. You just live in a world of
convenient idea manipulation. People like you
never commit to any definition of "right and
wrong" because when you're shown to be morons,
there is no way for you to get out.

No, the liberals want to make the people pay more
taxes for more education spending, instead of
encouraging competition in the private education
market, which would make for higher educational
standards.

God forbid we do that... someone's self-esteem might
get bruised, and then their whole day will just be
ruined.

Ah, so you are genuinely stupid then, without the

You call this a battle? I was going easy on
you, simply because this is way off topic for
this group, and you're the kind of person who
won't listen to reason anyway, so why should I
waste my time?

Oh, BTW dufus, eat this:

Looks like the libs are full of shit about yet one
more thing. How typical.

Morons, all of you.

Except my wifes HP 8175... 48Mb ram, 6Gb harddrive.... winmodem...
cd-rom
PII-mmx.... it runs too slow with win98se on it as it is. Doubt that it
would do any better under XP.

The deciding factor was

a) Kaiser shipyards

--producing cargo vessels so quickly that the centuries-old shipyards
were embarassed.

Kaiser developed an assembly line process, by making pre-fab
subassemblies off-site, and shipping them in by rail, and then
rivetting/welding them together.

After the process got smoothed out, the total time from laying
the keel to launching the ship was under 72 hours (3 days).

In contrast, Newport News took 14 DAYS to produce a ship
made from the SAME blueprints. (V-2 "Liberty" ships, and
later, the larger V-3 "Victory" ships).

To summarize: Kaiser, on a SINGLE set of ways, produced
9 1/3 ships in the same time period which Newport news
produced only 2.

b) Detroit.

The entire automotive industry in Detroit was converted into
making Tanks, B-24 Liberators (The aircraft industry laughed when
Ford announced that they would build aircraft using an Assembly-line
process), and Machineguns
