Subject: WWW: OMNeT++ Discrete Event Simulator -- web site reorganized
Date: Sat, 26 Dec 1998 23:46:15 GMT
=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
During the last months I spent some time on the OMNeT++ web site.
It is now better organized and (hopefully :-) more appealing,
and it contains a lot more information about the current status
of the project.
http://www.hit.bme.hu/phd/vargaa/omnetpp.htm
Some of the new things:
o The mailing list is now archived on the web site.
o The new FAQ contains answers to about 20 questions, ranging from
installation to modelling techniques. It can even be useful
for an experienced user, and some of its current contents will
eventually make it into the manual.
o The 'projects' page contains information about the current development
effort and some references to projects that build upon OMNeT++.
If you are currently using OMNeT++, it is not a bad idea to send a few
sentences about your work, for inclusion in the 'projects' page.
- ----
OMNeT++ is a C++-based discrete event simulator for modelling communication
networks, multiprocessors and other distributed systems.
OMNeT++ features a graphical model editor, powerful textual topology
description language, C++ simulation class library, process-based
activity description (uses coroutines), multiple run-time user interfaces
(batch, graphical, TVision), message flow and statistics animation,
interactive simulation, tracing, random seed generator tool, result
analysis and plotting tool, support for parallel execution via PVM and many
more exciting features.
Sample simulations include FDDI, Token Ring, deflection routing in hypercube
etc. OMNeT++ is also supported on Win32 platforms.

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Now in its third year, The Connecticut Free Unix Group (in cooperation
with Yale University) proudly presents: The 1999 Connecticut Installfest.
This historic event (the first of its kind in Connecticut) will take place
on Saturday, January 30th at the Yale School of Management in New Haven,
from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Rather than clutter up this forum with details,
we invite all Connecticut residents interested in trying out a free
version of unix on their home computer to visit the CFUG website at
http://www.cfug.org/
Updates will be periodically posted to this website, and to the CFUG
mailing lists (which can be joined via the website).
See you there!
