=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
freesweep is a console minesweeper-style game written in C for
*nix. The ncurses library is preferred, but standard System V curses
will work almost perfectly. Features include boards up to 1024x1024 and
saving & loading of boards. Planned features include mouse support,
shared and individual "best times" files, and color on capable terminals.
The source code is available under the GNU GPL. This is the first public
release. The authors are Gus Hartmann ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and Pete
Keller ([EMAIL PROTECTED]); bug reports and feedback should be
directed to them.

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====
Ircam releases jMax under GNU's General Public License
Paris, France (July 20, 1999) -- IRCAM announces the distribution of jMax,
its software environment for music performance and real time digital audio
processing, as free software under the GNU General Public License.
Since its first public release for the SGI and Linux platforms in early
1999, jMax has reached several hundred users that expressed high interest in
the product and its development. This interest, added to the rapid growth of
the Linux operating system and the effectiveness of the open development
model, created the conditions for an opening of the jMax development.
By releasing jMax under GNU's General Public License, IRCAM brings a key
contribution to the computer music community and to the adoption of Linux
for the multimedia market.
jMax is the new generation of real time systems at IRCAM, designed to
replace the Ircam Signal Processing Workstation. Based on a client/server
architecture, wherein the two components are the C written real-time engine
already known as FTS and a Java graphical user interface, jMax features a
high portability level.
jMax is currently supported on SGI workstations and on Linux for
Intel-compatible processors. Porting to other platforms are under
development, including Alpha-Linux, Linux-PPC, Solaris, Apple MacOS X and
Microsoft's Windows. Compatibilities with Max/MSP (IRCAM/Opcode/Cycling'74)
currently running on MacOS will be pursued.
Support, documentation, tutorials, CDROMs and musical applications for jMax
will be provided by the IRCAM Forum, the IRCAM user group accessible via a
yearly subscription. IRCAM Forum can be reached at
http://www.ircam.fr/departements/valorisation/forum/index-e.html.
jMax is currently being developed at IRCAM by the Real Time Systems team,
lead by Franois Dchelle, with Maurizio de Cecco, Enzo Maggi and Norbert
Schnell.
jMax is currently used in concert and in studio, at Ircam and on
international tours, for productions featuring real time audio synthesis and
processing, as well as for virtual reality interactive installations that
combine image and sound synthesis.
For more information and download, please visit IRCAM's Web site at :

IRCAM (Institut de Recherche et de Coordination Acoustique/ Musique) is a
non-profit organization associated with the Georges Pompidou National Center
of Art and Culture, Paris, France. Since its foundation in 1969 by the
French composer and conductor Pierre Boulez, IRCAM has always been a pioneer
in designing real time systems for live interaction between instruments and
computers. The first generation of systems lead in 1981 to the 4X processor,
designed at IRCAM by Giuseppe Di Giugno. In the 80s, Miller Puckette started
developing at IRCAM the Max software, a visual language that brought a new
concept in musical interaction. Max, licensed to Opcode Systems Inc., CA,
has reached a wide audience in the computer music community. The IRCAM
Signal Processing Workstation, designed in 1989 at IRCAM by a team leaded by
Eric Lindemann, has been adopted by a large number of composers as a choice
platform for real time interactive musical pieces.

DeployLinux.Net Launched
Linux OS requires a site dedicated to practical application of
open-source technology in the enterprise.
Site URL: http://www.deploylinux.net/
05/25/1999 -- JNS called upon the open-source community today to help it
generate content for a site truly dedicated to supporting Linux and Open
Source in the Enterprise.
The site will publish 1-2 articles/day. Articles are expected to be
1-5 pages long and must be:
High Quality (worthy of being in print media)
Practical (On-the-job useful to most readers)
Unique and Interesting (Open-Source/Linux Focused)
"The site is not meant to be a 'slashdot'. We've watched coverage of
open-source and Linux flourish on the web for the last several years.
There are sites dedicated to novices, kernel details, general news,
online commerce, and individual software packages - but there has been a
tremendous void in the area of providing high quality useful information
about deploying and supporting Linux/Open Source in the enterprise. We
would like to fill it with the help of the community." stated creator M.
Marlowe.
The site currently runs on a Linux Server hosted at the Exodus Irvine
Data Center with a 10mbit Internet Connection. It is built upon the
Zope Application Server and Squishdot Product Extensions.

TurboCluster Server 1.2Beta1 Available for Free Download
********************************************************
http://community.turbolinux.com/cluster
TurboCluster Server 1.2Beta1, a high availability complete Linux OS
clustering solution for Linux, is available for free download, FTP
install, or FTP upgrade. The clustering system allows multiple Linux
machines to function as a single web server, mail server or other
TCP/IP server. Load-balancing among the nodes is configurable by the
user. The system monitors hardware and software for failure of a node
and will automatically correct the problem, avoiding costly downtime.
TurboCluster Server will send system status reports to the system
administrator by e-mail in the event of hardware or software failure.
This version is for testing purposes only. The package comes
with TurboLinux Server, cluster management software and
configuration tools. A source code patch for Linux
kernel 2.2.9 is included with the system and published
under the GPL.
Runs over standard ethernet using TCP/IP
Software included in the packages:
- TurboLinux Server, based on 2.2.9 Linux kernel
- tlclusterd: cluster management system
- turboclustercfg: menu-based configuration tools for
the cluster management system
- tlcluster_sync: utility to synchronize cluster configuration files
on all nodes and restart daemons on all nodes.
- NFS tools: tools to configure the nodes of a cluster
to write to a central location
- tl_sync: data synchronization tool to administer your web
site data in a "shared nothing" configuration.
Like all Linux distributions, TurboCluster Server is based on
several OpenSource projects. The virtual server component of the
server was originally based on Linux Virtual Server Project,
http://proxy.iinchina.net/~wensong/ippfvs/. Although the development
has since branched off, we would like to acknowledge the
contribution of the developers in the Linux Virtual Server
Project.
Additional information, including configuration documentation and
instructions on how to download the software can be found at
http://community.turbolinux.com/cluster.

Eridani CDROM with Red Hat 5.2 -----> 3.00 each.
Red Hat Powertools 5.2 -------------> 3.00 each.
Linux-Mandrake 5.3 -----------------> 3.00 each.
The install CDROMs include an El Torito boot record, which, on supported
hardware make them bootable.
The Red Hat 6.0 CDs are made to order, and as such, will have all the Red
Hat updates to that time on the CD. Rather than having them in a separate
updates directory, we have opted to make them part of the install, so you
automatically have an up-to-date Linux system.
A large amount of extra software has been included on the CDROM, including
Corel WordPerfect (downloadable version) and Sun JDK 1.1.7 (for the
programmers out there). Also now included are xawtv and alevt (for bttv-based
TV cards), VNC and SSH 1.2.27.
A second CD is available, which contains all the source code. Red Hat
Linux is just too big now to have all the binaries and sources on the one
CD. This CD is also available, also for UKP 3.00.
The Debian CD set is the Official Debian GNU/Linux 2.1 (slink) 2CD
distribution.
The Mandrake CDs are based on the official ISOs. However, since the
official ISO doesn't appear to be bootable, we've remade it so it does
boot.
For more information, and how to order, please visit the web page at:
http://www.amush.cx/linux/
International orders accepted, but due to the cost of bank charges and
international mail, the prices will be slightly higher.
Sorry, we cannot accept credit cards. Cash (Pounds sterling preferred!)
and cheques drawn on a UK bank. International bank transfers accepted,
however subject to a UKP 2.00 charge due to bank charges. There is a
UKP 1.50 charge for postage and packaging within the UK, variable for
international customers.

Hi all,
IPTraf is a statistics utility for IP networks. It returns various
statistics including TCP connection packet and byte counts, network
interface packet and byte counts, load indicators, TCP/UDP service counts,
and LAN station counts and loads.
RELEASE INFORMATION
I've released IPTraf 2.0.1. It fixes two bugs in 2.0.0: one causes an
inaccurate incoming byte count for non-IP packets, and the other misplaces
the elapsed time indicator in some places for terminals not containing 25
lines.
All 2.0.0 users are encouraged to upgrade. Users of Linux 2.0 kernels
must still remain with IPTraf 1.4.3.
You can grab the latest packages at the home site at
ftp://ftp.cebu.mozcom.com/pub/linux/iptraf-2.0.1.tar.gz
It's also available via Linuxberg at Software:Console:Administration
The IPTraf home page is at http://cebu.mozcom.com/riker/iptraf
That's all.
