What's Visual Perl
=====================

Visual Perl is an integrated GUI buidle for perl/GTK. It will contains
project manager, WYSIWYS interface builder like glade, program editor
and maybe debugger in the future. It use the concept of two-way tools
like Delphi.

What's the status
=====================

It's stillin the design phrase. I release it to invite everyone who are
interesting in designing a great GUI builder, a Visual Basic for UNIX, an
open source integrated GUI environment to join this project. If you are
looking for productive tools, please skip it now.

 MANDRAKESOFT ANNOUNCES PROJECT DISKDRAKE:

"A Hard-Drive partioner for Linux, under opensource license"
 ------------------------------------------------------------

MandrakeSoft - publisher of the popular "Linux-Mandrake" distribution
- - announces DiskDrake, a complete hard-drive partioner available for
Linux now (beta version) and for Windows(tm) soon. DiskDrake is
published under the terms of the General Public License (GNU).

Recently, a new need for hard-drive partioners has been felt with the
growing success of Linux: people often want to install Linux on their
PC without having to remove Windows(tm). So, in order to free some
place for Linux they usually need to resize their disk partitions,
which is still a delicate operation, only permitted by some
hard-to-use text based programs like "fips" or other proprietary
software.

We, at MandrakeSoft, have choosen to release our own full-featured
graphical partioner freely (under the terms of the General Public
License). DiskDrake currently runs under Linux. A Windows(tm) port is
envisaged.

The first released version of DiskDrake is beta software, but it
should improve rapidly with the contribution of the free-software
community.

DiskDrake will of course be integrated in the next version of
Linux-Mandrake.

DiskDrake can be discovered and downloaded from:

        http://www.linux-mandrake.com/diskdrake/

All developpers with sufficient knowledge in Linux, as well as in
Windows(tm) programming can join the project. Debug it and add some
new great features in it!

Subject: SEW - Real-Time Distributed Analysis Tool
Date: Thu, 22 Jul 1999 20:25:30 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

SEW is a distributed real-time analysis tool intended to
assist the real-time community in analysis algorithm development
and distributed system analysis. It has at its roots a
generalized modeling framework for distributed computing
systems, and supports most known real-time analysis algorithms.
Currently, only a few algorithms are implemented, but others
can be added readily.

SEW has its roots in research into real-time scheduling
analysis performed at Carnegie Mellon University. Several
variations of a scheduling analysis tool have been made over
the years, starting with a single-resource analysis tool
implementing Rate Monotonic Analysis, which then grew into
distributed computing analysis tools. SEW 2.0 represents
the first public release of these tools.

Since SEW was originally developed under Linux, it seems
appropriate to announce it to the Linux community.

SEW is freely available, and may be modified for any purpose,
but not sold commercially. It is based on Tcl/Tk and STL,
and should be readily portable to different operating
environments.

The development of SEW was originally a "cathedral"; this
announcement represents a shift to "bazaar" development.

To obain further information and source code, please visit:

        http://home1.gte.net/kevinb1/SEW/SEW.html

This will serve as the main site for distribution and
documentation.

Date: Thu, 22 Jul 1999 20:28:53 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

The Berlin Consortium is proud to announce its
0.1.0 release of Berlin.

Berlin is an experimental windowing system which is a
logical extension of the integrated layout and structured
graphics model developed in InterViews and Fresco. It
makes heavy use of CORBA for transparent inter-process
control, and utilizes a loadable module framework to
maintain good drawing speed and extensive
customizabillity.

Berlin is covered by the LGPL and is developed by
volunteers of the free software community.

It is implemented with CORBA / multithreaded C++
and uses GGI and Mesa as the underlaying graphic
architecture.

For more detailed information please look at
<http://www.berlin-consortium.org>

Version 1.0 of software for the Eiger Labs MPMAN F20 portable mp3
player is now available.

The player is made for Eiger Labs and contains 32 MB of memory and can
be expanded upto another 32 MB with a smart media card. It holds mp3
audio files that are downloaded from your host computer via the
parallel port. These audio files can then be played similar to a
walkman.

This software is a GUI (lesstif) frontend program that uses a backend
program built by the Snowblind Alliance. The GUI provides similar
functionality to what one would get from the windows software supplied
with the unit. This software should run on any Linux release and is
Open Source GPL. Both programs can be obtained from:

members.tripod.com/bforsberg

Work is under way to support the F10 model from Eiger Labs as well
with the GUI frontend program.
