ObjectThread is a C++ toolkit for writing multithreaded code on Linux
using Linuxthreads as a base. It is released under the GNU LGPL.
ObjectThread contains direct wrappers for the Linuxthreads library as
well as a set of useful higher level multithreading constructs such as:
Barrier
Readers/Writer Lock
Notifiers
ThreadPool
System wide named lock
Timer
Thread safe sequences (wrappers for STL's queue, priority_queue, and
stack) that are used for queueing messages between threads.
Although ObjectThread is still alpha, it is very useable and the
interface should be fairly stabalized. It will soon be stepping into
beta stage. There should also be no reason why ObjectThread would be
tied closely to Linux and not other UNICES that have pthreads. I just
don't have access to any UNIX machines to test on.
I'm accepting comments, suggestions, offers to test or port this library
to other systems. ObjectThread can be downloaded from my home page at

Version 0.7.0 is the first official release of the 0.7.x branch. It
includes quite a few major changes and additions, as well as all the
portability enhancements and flight model updates included in the
0.6.2 release.
Here is a summary of the changes for version 0.7.0:
* Autopilot can now fly great circle routes which take advantage of
our spherical world model.
* Added a flight model acceleration funtion.
* Added support for mouse yoke control contributed by David Megginson.
* FDM model hertz now setable from the command line.
* Added initial timezone support so the user can have better control and more
options for setting the starting time of the sim.
* We now draw nonexistant tiles as ocean which means we only have to create
and distribute tiles that contain some sort of land mass.
* Added Christian Mayer's new weather subsystem.

Delise.
* Started adding support for "external" views ... still needs some work.
* Replaced basic render engine with plib's ssg (simple scene graph).

computer or beowulf style stuff for getting large chunks of scenery built
as fast as possible.
* Only generate tiles that have land mass data since the sim can recreate pure
ocean tiles on the fly.
* First stab at a water flattening scheme to prevent oceans, lakes, and rivers
from running up and down the sides of hills.
* Changed the default "Work/" subdirectory layout.
* Updates to better handle segment boundaries in preparation for real airport
runway and lighting modeling.
* Updates and enhancements to my polygon management class.
Version 0.6.2 is mainly a bug fix release which fixes some portability
issues and includes updates to the two optional flight models.
