The new Apps site AppWatch.com (http://www.appwatch.com) has survived
it's Alpha stage and is now calling out to Apps lovers out there to go
through it's Beta. User accounts can be set up and will be honored when
we reach a stable condition. We only support Open Source Apps, and
review them before adding to avoid becoming an Apps graveyard. The site
offers full dynamic content using Zope (http://www.zope.org) and
PostgreSQL (http://www.postgresql.org) for the backend.

NetBeans and Tendril Software Integrate IDE and UML Tools for Server-Side
Java Development

September 9, 1999 Westford, MA - NetBeans and Tendril Software today
announced the joint availability of their integrated modeling and
development solution. With this integration, developers can visually design
UML (Unified Modeling Language) models for robust distributed applications
while inside the IDE. Any changes made to either the Java source or UML
diagrams are immediately reflected in the other. Developers can then
rapidly construct, deploy and debug with leading application servers and
CORBA ORBs.

Tendril's StructureBuilder, a model-based component and application
development tool, is available as a plug-in module to NetBeans Developer 3.0
IDE (Integrated Development Environment), which is currently in public Beta.
Users can access the products from either company's website:
http://www.netbeans.com or http://www.tendril.com .

"As Java development expands into the enterprise, UML will be crucial in
helping developers construct well-designed distributed systems and
understand non-visual server-side logic," said Roman Stanek, CEO of
NetBeans. "StructureBuilder is a powerful tool that will help corporations
build better applications that meet the demands of Internet development
cycles."

Both NetBeans and Tendril develop completely in Java, allowing them to
create a seamless and dynamic integration. Some of the features of the
integration include:

- -- Developers can model both the static and dynamic elements of their
   application within the IDE
- -- The model and the source code are completely synchronized - changes
   to one appear instantly in the other
- -- HTML documentation is available with a single mouse click
- -- Developers can access diagrams and open packages from inside
   NetBeans explorer
- -- Using NetBeans repository, entire class hierarchies can be accessed
   and displayed in the model window

"The exclusive use of Java and the extraordinary cooperation between our two
development teams allowed us collectively to create an integration that
provides tremendous value to enterprise Java developers," said Neeraj
Sangal, President of Tendril. "NetBeans is a full-featured cross-platform
IDE that provides an ideal environment for this complete integration."

NetBeans Developer 3.0 is a modular Java integrated development environment
(IDE). Written in Java 2, it runs on any Java 2 enabled platform such as
Windows, Solaris, or Linux. Developer 3.0 is designed for client-side
development of Java applications and has a complete feature set for
integrated visual design, editing, compilation, and source-tracked
debugging. The upcoming Developer 3.0 Pro powers developers' production of
database and servlet applications as well as supporting XML. Developer 3.0
Enterprise Edition merges support for EJB, CORBA, RMI, and JNDI into a
single object-oriented environment with team support. Through wizards and
templates, Enterprise speeds up the development and deployment of
distributed applications, while the underlying object technology
automatically keeps the interfaces and implementations synchronized.
Developer 3.0 is currently in Beta and will be in full release later this
summer.

StructureBuilder 3.2 is available in three enterprise versions.
StructureBuilder Enterprise allows developers to specify and display the
relationships between objects, graphically develop complex object models,
and generate customized code for their applications. StructureBuilder
Enterprise also supports the creation and extension of JavaBeans(tm) and
Enterprise JavaBeans(tm). StructureBuilder Enterprise Pro adds to the
Enterprise version by allowing the developer to build UML Use Case and
Sequence Diagrams with an easy to use interface. StructureBuilder Enterprise
Pro-SM adds Sequence Methods to Enterprise Pro. This technology allows a
programmer to develop working code from Sequence Diagrams.

Subject: ObjectThread alpha 0.1.23 - C++ toolkit for multithreading
Date: Wed, 15 Sep 1999 22:53:27 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

ObjectThread is a C++ toolkit for writing multithreaded code on Linux
using Linuxthreads as a base. It is released under the GNU LGPL.
ObjectThread contains direct wrappers for the Linuxthreads library as
well as a set of useful higher level multithreading constructs such as:

Barrier
Readers/Writer Lock
Notifiers
ThreadPool
System wide named lock
Timer
Thread safe sequences (wrappers for STL's queue, priority_queue, and
stack) that are used for queueing messages between threads.

Although ObjectThread is still alpha, it is very useable and the
interface should be fairly stabalized. It will soon be stepping into
beta stage. There should also be no reason why ObjectThread would be
tied closely to Linux and not other UNICES that have pthreads. I just
don't have access to any UNIX machines to test on.

I'm accepting comments, suggestions, offers to test or port this library
to other systems. ObjectThread can be downloaded from my home page at
http://www3.nbnet.nb.ca/jnye. Follow the 'Current Software Projects'
link and download the latest copy. Full documentation can be viewed from
my site, or if you have DOC++ 3.2, you can generate it yourself (see the
Makefile). The package comes with some example programs showing how to

Many thanks to Lars Gullik Bjnnes of Lyx fame for all the helpful

o Flight Gear version 0.7.0 is now available. This is the first release
  of the 0.7.x "development" tree. Even though this is the first
  official release of the 0.7.x branch, the code is pretty stable and
  most people shouldn't have any trouble with it.

o Flight Gear version 0.6.2 is now available. This is the most recent
  release of the "stable" 0.6.x tree.

o A large portion of the world (in Flight Gear scenery format) is now
  available for download. You can go directly to the download
  interface and see what areas are available here:

  http://www.flightgear.org/Downloads/world-scenery.html

The Flight Gear Flight Simulator project is a free, open-source,
multi-platform flight sim development project. Source code for the
entire project is available and licensed under the GPL.

For more information, please visit the Flight Gear web page at:

    http://www.flightgear.org

Version 0.7.0 is the first official release of the 0.7.x branch. It
includes quite a few major changes and additions, as well as all the
portability enhancements and flight model updates included in the
0.6.2 release.

Here is a summary of the changes for version 0.7.0:

* Autopilot can now fly great circle routes which take advantage of
  our spherical world model.
* Added a flight model acceleration funtion.
* Added support for mouse yoke control contributed by David Megginson.
* FDM model hertz now setable from the command line.
* Added initial timezone support so the user can have better control and more
  options for setting the starting time of the sim.
* We now draw nonexistant tiles as ocean which means we only have to create
  and distribute tiles that contain some sort of land mass.
* Added Christian Mayer's new weather subsystem.
* Incorporated a first stab at some networking code contributed by Oliver
  Delise.
* Started adding support for "external" views ... still needs some work.

* Replaced basic render engine with plib's ssg (simple scene graph).
* Now expect plib to be installed in it's one true and official location.
* Added support for timegm() if it exists which explicitely expects GMT input.
* Lots of your basic code reorganization and shuffling.

* Updates to JSBsim.
* Updates to Tony's c172 model.
* Updated getting started guide from Micheal Basler.

* FreeBSD portability tweaks.
* MACos portability tweaks.
* Borland C++ tweaks.
* MSVC++ tweaks.

* Removed tools dependency on libgfc. Functionality is now covered by
  shapelib which has been added into the Tools tree.
* Added support for the wonderful GSHHS global land mass data set.
* Removed dependecy on process-dem.pl script.
* Created a new distributed/parallel tile build system ... hmmm kind of super
  computer or beowulf style stuff for getting large chunks of scenery built
  as fast as possible.
* Only generate tiles that have land mass data since the sim can recreate pure
  ocean tiles on the fly.
* First stab at a water flattening scheme to prevent oceans, lakes, and rivers
  from running up and down the sides of hills.
* Changed the default "Work/" subdirectory layout.
* Updates to better handle segment boundaries in preparation for real airport
  runway and lighting modeling.
* Updates and enhancements to my polygon management class.

Version 0.6.2 is mainly a bug fix release which fixes some portability
issues and includes updates to the two optional flight models.

New in Source version 0.6.2
* MSVC++ and FreeBSD portability enhancements.
* MACos fixes.
* JSBsim updates.
* c172 updates.
