Subject: cgipasswd 1.0 released

"cgipasswd" allows users to change their password by a web interface.

supported systems:

cgipasswd has been tested with Debian GNU/Linux (potato and woody) and
Solaris 7 and should work on other Un*ces with pam support. Systems without
pam support are only supported if they use the standard password file
location /etc/passwd /etc/shadow and the standard crypt function to encrypt
  the password.

features:

+ an accessdb against brute force attacks. Users with too many invalid tries
  can be locked.

+ The minimum and maximum uid can be set in the configuration file, so you can
specify a range of uid's that are allowed to use cgipasswd.

+ you can specify html files with a few PHP extensions for the login screen
  and error messages.

+ you can use a redirect for the error messages, instead of plain html files.

cgipasswd is available at:

http://www.stafwag.f2s.com/cgipasswd

Subject: GNU MDK version 0.3.5 released
From: "Jose A. Ortega Ruiz" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

GNU MDK 0.3.5 has been released. It is available from
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/mdk/ and mirrors of that site (see list of
mirror sites at http://www.gnu.org/order/ftp.html) [0].

GNU MDK provides a simulator of D. Knuth's MIX computer, and a
development environment to write, run and debug MIXAL programs on it.

New in this release:

** In gmixvm, when the mouse pointer is over a MIXAL source line, the
status bar shows the value of the variables appearing in this line.

** The current symbol table can be displayed, in gmixvm, using the menu
   command Debug->Symbols...

** Bug fix: the load, compile and run file dialogs now get the correct
   filename under linux.

** Bug fix: fonts used by gmixvm are now always correctly saved.

** Bug fix: 'psym' now works correctly in gmixvm.

** Bug fix: the symbol table for a MIX file is now correctly recovered
both in gmixvm and mixvm (negative values where incorrectly
   converted to a positive value).

Visit the MDK home page at http://www.gnu.org/software/mdk/mdk.html.

Bug reports should go to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Enjoy!

k3 displays the memory available as a percentage, the K free, and a
simple bar chart.

You can download k3 from ibiblio:

1.5 fixes problems with there being 2GB or more of RAM or swap, and
makes the display layout more suitable for modern RAM/swap sizes.

From: Stelian Pop <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Subject: Dump/restore 0.4b23 released.
Reply-To: Stelian Pop <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hi everybody,

A new version of dump/restore, the linux ext2/ext3 filesystem
backup utilities was released today.

This new release fixes some bugs (the 'looping dump' bug,
compressed multi-volume dumps) and adds some interesting new
features (like the -F script option for restore, exclude inodes
from dump enhancements etc).

Downloads, bug-reports, mailing lists, all is available from:
        http://dump.sourceforge.net

Enjoy!

Stelian.

Changelog follows:

Changes between versions 0.4b22 and 0.4b23 (released July 20, 2001)
===================================================================

1. Fixed a buffer overflow in restore/tape.c. Patch provided by
Marcus Meissner (Caldera International Security Dept.).

2. Implement the Sun rmt extended protocol. Patch submitted
        by Ian Gordon <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.

3. Check for the e2fsprogs header <ext2fs/ext2_fs.h> instead of
the linux kernel header. This ensures that dump always has the
latest version of this file. Patch submitted by
        Andreas Dilger <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.

4. Report any filesystem present in either /etc/fstab with a
positive passno or /etc/dumpdates in dump -w output.
Patch submitted by Andreas Dilger <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.

5. Fixed the looping problem in dump introduced in the
        previous version.

6. Changed the -B option of dump to limit the size of
_compressed_ output per volume if compression is on.
        Patch contributed by Helmut Jarausch
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>. Note however that, since
it is impossible to predict the size of the compressed
data before doing the compression, the -B limit is a bit
        conservative.

7. Fixed a bug in reading the operator typed file/tape path for
        the next volume in restore.

8. Implemented a "-F script" option to restore which permits the
user to specify a script which will be launched at the
beginning of each tape, useful for automatic programming of
tape changers for example. See the restore man page for the
        script parameters and return codes.

9. Small fix for the QFA routines provided by Uwe Gohlke
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, and some recommendations for QFA uses in
        the man pages.

10. Fixed the multivolume restoring where making a mistake
to the 'Mount next tape' prompt caused several blocks to
        be lost.

11. Enhanced the -e option of dump to take as a parameter a
comma separated list of inode numbers.

12. Added the -E option to dump which specify a file containing
inode numbers to exclude from the dump.

13. Fixed the compressed multi-volume dump + restore.

Subject: rp-pppoe 3.2 -- Robust PPPoE suite for Linux
Date: Sun, 22 Jul 2001 12:50:59 CST

Version 3.2 of rp-pppoe has been released. It is the successor to 3.1.

rp-pppoe is a user-mode (and kernel mode, on Linux 2.4) client and
server for the Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet, a protocol used
by many ADSL service providers. It runs on standard Linux kernels
NetBSD and Solaris. rp-pppoe is released under the GNU General Public
License, and can be obtained from:

        http://www.roaringpenguin.com/pppoe/

Changed from Version 3.1 to 3.2:

o Client used to incorrectly accept PADT's from any MAC address (and
if the Ethernet interface is in promiscuous mode, to any MAC address.)
This has been corrected.

o Minor fixes to "install" target for Turbolinux.

Subject: Spgmr08-0.2
Date: Sun, 22 Jul 2001 12:51:55 CST

I've uploaded the first release of a Linux based HC08 Serial Programmer
app to sourceforge. It's GPL'd so it will always be free. Don't be
fooled by that -0.2 version. I just hosed 0.1 in my CVS and so bumped
the version once before I ever got it out the door. This is really
alpha code in the release early, release often style. Trust me that
this is early :).

Calling this a programmer is maybe a bit bold on my part; it won't
actually program parts for you, but it's getting close. It will talk to
the monitor and all 6 monitor commands and redimentary security code
support is there. But it's together enough for others to play with.

It is intended to (eventually) be a command line tool that works nicely
with Cosmic c (great '08 compiler on Linux, really fast) and make. It
may be GP32 specific, I don't know, that's all I use and I've not had
the time to look at other data sheets.

The project page is at http://sourceforge.net/projects/spgmr08 (there's
no web site yet). The code (GPL) is at
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/spgmr08/spgmr08-0.2.tar.gz (it hadn't
even shown up on the file list at the time of writing this).

You're going to need PCCTS to compile this thing. And visual tcl to play
with the GUI. See the README and design.txt files in the package.

Subject: MIMEDefang 1.3 -- flexible mail scanner for virus/trojan protection

MIMEDefang is a MIME mail scanner designed to run on Linux or UNIX
systems, and intended mainly to protect Windows e-mail clients from
mail-borne viruses. It can, however, be used for many other purposes,
such as restricting access to certain e-mail addresses to specific mail
relays, diverting large attachments to a Web server instead of keeping
them in the message, and so on. MIMEDefang requires Sendmail 8.11 or 8.12.

MIMEDefang is available from:

        http://www.roaringpenguin.com/mimedefang

and is released under the GNU General Public License.

Changes since Version 1.2:

o Addition of "$Subject" variable in filter
o "append_boilerplate" action to add boilerplate text to outgoing mail
o "-f filter -test" options to test filters for syntactic correctness
o Better autoconf script which should work with Sendmail 8.12
o Many other minor fixes and improvements

Subject: Mape, release 0.1

Mape - Modular Application Engine, release 0.1
             ==============================================

The Mape Global Development Team is proud to announce first release
of the Modular APplication Engine (MAPE). The goal of this OpenSource
system (licensed GPL/LGPL) is to provide capabilities to write multi-
tier applications in multiple programming languages, use different
GUIs on clients and access multiple database systems.

Whole applications are stored in MAPE system catalog which is stored
in a supported SQL database server. XML is used for application
description - how the application should look and what it should do.
Applications are running on the server, but some parts can run the
 client too.

Where the thing can be found - http://mape.jcu.cz.

 What can do MAPE now:

   * use PostgreSQL for its system catalog location
   * access PostgreSQL, InterBase, ODBC and DB2 data sources for
     application data
