I have thought about trying this, but the question that keeps popping into
my mind is, how, then, would you tell it what number to fax to after you
print from Windows? It would be very easy to set up a network printer using
either samba or mars as a postscript printer, and use ghostscript to
convert it to G3, then use sendfax to send it... but where would you send
it to? You have no way of including the destination in your print job.

Voice modems include this capability already. All it takes is software. My
understanding is that ps_getty or mgetty are supposed to be able to handle
the voice reception, it would be very little effort to write an application
or script to take advantage of that and have a multi-mailbox answering
machine.
