I've got a similar setup at home. My wife likes windows, but I like
Linux, so I made a setup where the Linux box is a print server and an
internet gateway as well as my pc. I have only one modem, but the two
computers can be on the internet at the same time by using
ip-masquerade. You need to read the HOWTO's on firewalling,
ip-masquerading and how to set up a gateway. You will probably have to
re-compile your kernel to include the above mentioned software, but I've
found that using "make xconfig" while running in X-windows is much more
user-friendly than the standard "make config". It also allows you to see
a help section for each option that you will have a choice of including
in your kernel. Good luck with your project. You can e-mail me directly
if you need help with finding the resources.
