I'm not familiar with the specifics of Debian's printing setup
(unfortunately... I know RedHat quite well, and I assume that you have the
BSD-like printer utilties here), but there are a few things that you can
investigate to track down your problem...
- what are the printer diagnostic programs, like "lpq" and "lpc" telling
you?
- is your lpd daemon running?
- have you configured your /etc/printcap and printer filters correctly?
- is your printer connected correctly and set up right? (yeah, basic, I
know, but it happens...)
- have you consulted the Printing-HOWTO and the man pages for lpd etc?
