I appreciate all the responses I received from people.. One thing i dont
understand, is this.. if i can communicate with the modem ok, it appears
that i connect (via the sounds from the speaker), is that possible
opperation of a win modem... I havent had a chance to look at the a detailed
log file to see what is happening.. I assume that if i had a 'standard'
modem that a typical ppp connection is as straightforward as setting my
login name and password.. like windows... as far as the purchase of a new
modem (if need be) does anyone have a suggestion... I would like 56k with
little cost (since rumor has it the fcc dropped their ban on the 56k speed
limit...), even the 34k area would be fine if its cheap..
