colours in arm linux.

Is it possible yet (it never used to be im sure) to get 32k colours in arm
linux on a rpc. Im using 2.4.0-test5-rmk3. Adding a kernel argument of
video=1024x768-16 gets the right res but seems to use 16 colours! Have i
done something wrong and is the penguin meant to be holding a pint!?
