Hello,
In connection with my previous mail regarding playing sound at 8K Hz, I
have managed to get the ucb1200 driver working on the Assabet. This driver
gives me sampling rates of 8K. An input cat of the mcp device gives me a
8K*16 bit/sec file. But "cat"ting this file to the mcp device, produces no
sound. So, here's an expt I tried. Record a 44.1K wave from the headset
using the uda1341 and store it in file A. Play file A on the uda1341
and simultaneously record this through the mcp (ucb1200) device into
another file B. Now play file B using the mcp and record thru the uda1341
into file C. Play file C and see if it matches file A. The played out file
matched the earlier file but with a lot of noise/distortion. This proves
that the mcp device is atleast working.
The questions are: Why cant one play the file thru the ucb1200 and
listen to it on the speaker and, What could be the possible source for all
this distortion. Should some settings be made on the mixer to get sound
from the ucb1200 to the speakers. Does this have anything to do with the
enabling of the mixing functions on the uda1341 ? Any info on this or
pointers are welcome.
Thanking you in advance for all the help,
Ajit
