Well, I'm using the version of GCC that is in the RH7.0 stuff (gcc-2.96-20000731)
on ARM on one of my machines; kernel compilation is very hairy with it (but it
has discovered a few legit things), but generally it seems to compile most
user-space stuff OK. But, I wouldn't suggest using it for production purposes,
especially the C++ compiler (the GCC people are currently very touchy about
that).
There are a few issues with -O2, segmentation violations, but these seem to
be rare.
This version of GCC with binutils 2.10.0.18 appears to have everything
necessary for Thumb (ie, no need to build a separate compiler any more).
