I'm assuming that the IP addresses that the machine obtains are 100%
correct?  In addition, you may like to use tcpdump to examine the traffic
to udp port 111 (the portmap port) to see if it appears valid.

Also, check /proc/net/snmp for any IP or UDP errors.
