Hello,

I've received/seen lots of messages recently which relate to bootldr;
please read this if you are using bootldr on Assabet.

The code is currently transitioning towards JFFS2 support, but this
hasn't been exercised very much at all, and several compression types
are still not supported. I'm hesitant to let this code out because I
don't want to have to support it until I have some modest faith in its
quality.

At the same time, several of you would like to have a patch against the
current handhelds.org CVS tree, for support of BIG_KERNEL and so forth.
In addition, some of you have Neponsets, and have discovered that you
can't reliably use your SA-1111 (symptoms include broken audio and
PCMCIA). The cause of this is an incorrect static memory configuration
on the released bootldr. There are simple solutions to these problems
which are largely orthogonal to the JFFS code.

So here we go:

  ftp://ftp.wearablegroup.org/pub/software/patches/
    bootldr-snapshot-7-mar-2001.patch.gz

This is a patch against the CVS tree as of a few minutes ago. I've shut
off JFFS support on Assabet, because I haven't the slightest idea
whether JFFS v1 still works.

For those of you using ext2 ramdisks, please note the documentation for
the params "copy_ramdisk" (set to 1) and "ramdisk_addr" (set to
0xc0800000).

As always, there's a copy of the GPL in the patch, but the GPL only
applies to the contents of the patch itself.

Best of luck, and I'll try to get a more polished JFFS implementation
out the door as soon as possible.

-jd
