I got tired of always messing with ld.so.cache on my box, so just passed
LD_LIBRARY_PATH with a correct value as a kernel cmdline arg. So:
CONFIG_CMDLINE="root=1f02 rw LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib:/lib"
