I am using Rev D board. I used 'xs2' patch from mvista ftp site.

'ifconfig eth0 up'  activates the ethernet device.  We next assigned it an
IP address and a subnet mask.  Then connecting it to a network, it won't
ping out to the other IP's.

Is this anything to do with the programming on the 82559 eeprom?.

Ehh. Ethernet should work on the Rev D. board, but will fail on the
d.1 board due to a few hardware issues. Which board revision do you
have? Which xscale patch are you using? 

I believe you should still be able to use the ethernet even with a 
failing checksum.
