Agreed .But you need not do it when you have a SDRAM that has only 256 columns when compared to 512 as in Assabet . What I was trying to say that it has been clearly given in table 10-7 . So for a SDRAM which has only 256 columns and 4096 rows and the chip size per bank is 16 MB the 12 bit configuration will work. When it is clearly given in table 10-7 there is no need for sprcifying that 2 extra bits for bank select though it works.
