Hi,

Here are a few things that I'd like to change in the very
immediate future, if not in the past:

1. All modified kernels should change their uname -a output such
that it is easy to determine if a kernel has been altered. I
already do this, by adding -rmk1 etc to the version number by
changing a variable in the top level Makefile.

Please ensure that any and all distributed kernels and patches
come complete with my -rmk* addition, and an identifier in that
same place to indicate that it too has been modified.

2. Unless you really need to use a feature from PhilB's kernel
patches, please do not use them if you're trying to get a
stable kernel. He does not guarantee that his patches will
produce a stable kernel; in fact, the patches may break
   support for various bits.

3. If you have created extra patches on top of a -rmk kernel
feel free to pass the patches to me and I'll look into
   integrating them.

4. If you have applied someone elses patches on top of a -rmk
kernel, then by all means tell me about the problem, but do
not expect me to solve it. Please also inform the maintainer
of the lower level patches in addition.

Thanks.
