Your suspicions are wrong there: Filipe maintains many packages for KX Studio ( http://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/ ), and has extensive experience in the area. He's also very commited to ensuring up-to-date packages: something that requires a lot of dedication, as I'm sure you know since you package too.
