Yes, they could but why would they?
To make their customers happy? E.g., anyone who wants to use Linux but
still owns a hardware mp3 player which doesn't support ogg vorbis.
In any case, it would really be a feat if libsndfile got support for
reading/writing ogg vorbis and at least reading mp3. :)
