Hi everyone,

I connect to my ISP on a dialup shell account and I'm wondering if anyone
knows the reason for the following ...

I am fairly certain I am dialing up a Livinston terminal server which then
hands the session off to:

SunOS millennium.stealth.net 5.5.1 Generic_103641-08 i86pc i386 i86pc

If I connect with minicom, and get authenticated at the first login
screen, nearly always the session is terminated with a message--

******* Host currently unavailable ******

But sometimes it logs me in to a shell ...

If I turn around and dialup w/NT RAS to the same terminal server, but
login for a ppp session, I can then telnet to the host with no problem.

Do I have something set wrong in minicom, or does the terminal server want
to hear from ppp sessions *only*? What protocol is minicom using with the
terminal server-- my modem's (REL LAPM, etc)? And what protocol would the
terminal server be talking to the Sun machine with?

It connects about 10% of the time with minicom. Any ideas why it's
intermittent?

Thank you.

Harold Sinclair
