While it is sometimes useful to use, there are compelling reasons NOT
to use by default Reply-to: headers in email messages!
For example, with most (all?) mailers, replying to a post in a mailing
list that has such a header will result in a To: line with the
original poster's address in it, but will not include any Cc:
recipients (ie, in this case it will not include the mailing list
address).
This is BAD (and, IMHO, rude).
Also, try subscribing to a mailing list by relying on the Reply-to:
and/or From: headers as the subscription address - the Reply-to:
header will be ignored, and the From: header won't (shouldn't!) work.
The real way to do it is to get the _envelope_ of the message changed
(ie, re-mapped) as it leaves through the outgoing mail subsystem, such
as the "generics table" feature of sendmail. This is not to difficult
to do, and there is a mini-HOWTO about it, which I mentioned in
another reply to this thread.
Cheers
