Hello, I've been subsribed to this list over 6 months now, I realize this may be a little bit off-topic, but it seems like almost everything linux is covered here, This Is My Thought: I would like to have the ability to have my linux server call a phone #, then spew out a steam of audio files over that line. I've already got the thing paging me when when it wants me, but it would be nice for people that did not have pagers, to recieve a voice call, "hello, This Is Your Server Speaking, - Please Fix My - Name Server" or "hello, This Is Your Server Speaking, - HELP I NEED POWER!!!" This would be fun... I'm guessing I would need to install a voice modem, have it dial, then have a sound card interface with that... being that i've done Very-little (None) Multimedia with my Linux Servers, I have the following questions: 1. Can I Play an audio file directly from shell (no x-windows installed.) 2. Would i be looking for the voice-modem, soundcard setup... 3. Should i not talk about this here and go read something, what? Thanks... P.S. About a year ago, I told a company to replace their NT 4.0 Service pack 3 access server which crashed once a week with a Linux Server, It hasn't crashed ever. 0 maintenance. I like that.
