First of all, I'm sure you know to use setserial like this:
setserial /dev/modem spd_vhi
Also, if you use chat to dial and login to your ISP, then use the -v
option to display the call progress in the syslogs. This would show the
connect rate.
Anyone out there want to rewrite chat to be less generic? I'd love to use
a program that is designed just for dialing modems which would report the
connect rate on syslog.
