I just received Caldera 2.2 and installed it flawlessly on 1 out of 3
computers :-(
The first computer installed ok but the network didn't work and wouldn't
install a module through the KDE setup dialog boxes (might be a hardware
problem with BIOS/pnp/isa or whatever) .
The second computer was a Media GX and the install program did not seem
to detect the video properly - no text screen, no panic message,
nothing, just a blank screen. I guess I'll have to try to build a boot
disk and do the 'old fashion' install.
I finally installed it on my Win98 machine, starting the install from
windows, and it worked great...I'm on it now.
I have e-mailed a question to Caldera support, but no response yet
(less than 24 hours ago). They charge $50 for the first 30 minutes of
phone questions and another $50 if they don't solve the problem in the
first 30 minutes. I suppose their phone support is a top priority, so
the e-mail may not get answered in a timely fashion.
Anyone else been able to get support from Caldera ? Is it worth the
$$ ? Other support options available (besides this handy list :-) ?
I'm keeping my RH 5.1 around for now...
Good luck
