I tried Caldera 2.2. It installed nicely, until I came to the XWindows
configuration (see my upcoming question on this very list for more
information). Granted, the problems seem to be due to a screwy graphics
card, but I expected a _bit_ more from their (email) tech support.
Basically, they told me to install a service pack that isn't even out
yet - but they weren't aware that it isn't on their FTP site. After
asking them how to get it (and waiting a few days), I learned that it is
supposed to come out in early June. Unfortunately(?), I had returned the
software by the time I got this email. It's so cool that the people at
Borders actually took it back - opened package and all.
Anyway, considering that I buy commercial distributions mainly in order
to be eligible to receive tech support, I am really not willing to shell
out more money for phone support. I'm sticking with Slackware for now
(which doesn't run with the screwy graphics card mentioned above, but at
least I'm used to it).
This said, if you really need support using OpenLinux, I would check out
their mailing lists. Info on how to join can be found on Caldera's web
site - and the people there seem reasonably knowledgeable.
