Is it wise to use Linux as a "mission important" firewall? In the future, I'll creating a small network where, if the internal machines were to be comprimised, it wouldn't hurt anything, and there'd be nothing to gain (no credit card #s for example) by the cracker, it would just irritate me. I ask because I have no real experience in the world of Internet security, maybe it's taboo to use Linux as an important firewall and one should always use a big $$$ hardware solution, I don't know.
