Make sure that depmod -a has been run at bootup to create
/lib/modules/2.2.<whatever>/modules.dep On redhat boxes, this should
be done by default.

IIRC, the ne2000 cards need to have the 8390.o module loaded as a
dependency.

Also, there are two different drivers, one for the older ISA cards
(ne.o), and another for the PCI variety (ne2k-pci.o). Make sure you
specify the right one. (I would hazzard a guess that this is your
problem).

Have a look at the documentation in either the kernel-doc package
(/usr/doc/kernel-doc-*/networking/*) or the kernel-sources
(/usr/src/linux/Documentation/networking/*). There's a massive bunch
of documentation about all the network drivers in there.

Also check out the man pages for all the module utilities:

rpm -ql modutils | grep man

That will give you a list of these man pages... quite a few. The
/sbin/modinfo utility can be particularly useful if you need to know
what parameters a driver module can accept to modify it's behaviour.

There's documentation everywhere - although it's often a case of not
knowing where to start. Even the utilities themselves have useful
help screen output.

Cheers
Tony
