Hi all,
I am a relative newbie, so please bear with me. I installed RH6.1.
Everything was working fine, but suddenly I cannot launch linuxconf (I could
before). It quits, and I see that there is an error message:
remadmin: /dev/dsp: no such device
(or something like that).
I have not yet set up my sound, because sndconfig says I must use some alsa
drivers. (With no rpm available for the latest stuff, I haven't yet gotten
around to installing it.)
Is it simply a matter of my setting up my sound properly?
What does the sound setup have to do with linuxconf??
Is it normal to have (a) items in /dev owned by users besides root and (b)
to have multiple entries for what seems to be the same thing (like /dev/dsp
and /dev/dsp1)?
