Hello all,
I tried to contact the msql/mysql users but did not succeed, so let me
know the answer if u have worked with those databases.
I have decided to interface the mSQL or mySQL database with the Apache
Web
server in my Linux ( Red Hat 5.2 Version) system. I downloaded both the
databases from the Internet.
Then i did the following to install the mSQL database in my system and
the following problem occurred.
1) I downloaded the file named msql-2_0_11_tar.tar from the site
www.hughes.com.au. It is the latest version there. I placed the file in
/usr/local/src/mSQL directory.
2) I extracted the tar file using the command
gunzip -c tarfile | tar xvf -
It extracted the directories INSTALL, BUGS and demos and finally
displaced the message
tar: skipping to next file header
3) When i tried the command
make target
as written in the installtion manual file, it dispalyed
Make ** No rule to make target 'target' stop
After this i did not proceed since it did not happen as explained the
installtion procedure .
After then i tried the mySQL database and again the following happened.
1) placed the tarfile(mysql-3_22_32_tar.tar) in the /usr/local/src/mySQL
directory
2) tried to extract the files using gunzip command as above. It said
invalid compressed data--crc error. Also the above mentioned error the
Skipping to next file header again appeared. But many directories
were installed here too.
3)there was a configure file and when i tried to run configure using
command ./configure it displayed the error Error:can not find sources in
. or ..
I also followed all the instructions in the downloaded file and even in
the book (mSQL/mySQL, O Really Publication), It did not work.
I am now really disappoiting using installing those databases. I want to
know about the problem and the solution very soon. I can not work until
the
database is properly installed into the system.
Hope that u will help me.
Looking forward for ur quick and clear response.
