Success!!
I managed to install Tomcat successfully after a week of hair tearing. And
to think that all the problem was in the JVM!! This confirms the bug in
the Blackdown JDK1.2prerelease package given in the PCQ nov 99 CDROM.

I replaced it with Sun's own JDK1.2.2 given in last months PCQ CDROM, and
it ran the first time immediately. The JSP pages (after the first time
when they are compiled) are served real fast considering that I am
running Tomcat on a P166 w/ 32MB RAM with Apache(not standalone).

Regards,
 Sandip
