Greetings all
First off, thanks to all the list contributors who got me started
with diald - expecially masquerade with dynamic addresses. So
obvious to use the ip-up and ip-down bits of pppd when its
pointed out!!
Here's one thats got me stumped though.
I'm using the standard filters for diald and it works for all
protocols except nntp on port 119 from a LAN PC.
I'd have thought that the catchall case would bring the link up but
for some reason, Outlook Express (on one of the LAN PCs)
caches the IP address of the news server and so doesn't make
a domain request at the start of the connection.
The news client is fine once the link is up so the routing must be
OK - is there something odd about the 'syn' coming from OE
such that diald *doesn't* initiate the link up? Or am I missing
another abvious one here...
Hope for a reply :-))
A quickly balding
Robin.
