Tried it. I didn't mention one thing thing though, as I thought it was
uninportant and diald -daemon gave
a better description of the problem. When I execute diald normally (ie. not in
-daemon mode) I get
the following in my /var/log/messages:

This problem is exactly the same as before. The my options and chatscript are
now modified but it didn't seem to help.
