Thousands of people are using diald and internet email. The two tasks are
totally seperate though. I suggest first setting up your ppp connection
and making sure that ip is functioning properly. Then setup diald. 

You really need to read some howto's on ppp, email, tcpip,  and then
diald. You can get a list of howto's from http://www.linuxhq.com
