I'm seeing almost the exact same senario. (Even the same modem.) I'm not sure
WHY the conneciton is going down, but, when it does, diald doesn't seem to
detect it. (I am using ppp-2.3.5 instead of 2.2.0f, on SlackWare 3.5(?)). If I
tell diald to take the line down and then right back up again, everything seems
to be fine. That's fine if I happen to be there. Unfortunately, that's often
not the case. I'm actually not using diald for it's "intended" purpose any
longer. I USED to connect on demand. Now I keep the connection up 7/24.
Diald is only there to make sure that the connection restarts if it goes down
for some reason. So obviously it's not doing me a lot of good right now. :-(

I'm assuming that it's actually a PPPD configuration problem, rather than diald
per se. I would appreciate any suggestions.
