Dave,
You'll want to add this line to your prefs.js file in
...\Netscape\Users\{username}\ directory.
user_pref("mailnews.start_page.enabled", false);
That'll stop the annoying "Welcome to Netscape Messenger" page from loading
and causing diald to connect when you open the mail program.
