It sounds like windows, are you using IP Masquerading? From what I have seen
windows periodically does a DNS lookup of workgroup.your.domain.
Try turning off the 'browse master' option on your windows machines.
Network Properties->File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft
Networks->Properties->Browse Master->disabled.
