Authentication

What part of the script "authenticates".  I am having problems at that
point.  Did the minicom thing and kppp.  Once connected I don't
"authenticate" and I am dropped to a manual log in shell after an
"autoprobe for terminal type".  kppp shows pppd starting right after
connect.  Any help appreciated.
