i #undef'ed AF_NETLINK in the two files from 99.1 that use it. from the
comments i later received from this list, that seems to be the way to do
it. however, the compiled diald (.99.x) then crashed when forking a chat
process. i have not had time to re-examine this since then, so your
mileage might vary
