Hello,

I am upgrading my system (slackware with a 2.0.36 kernel, diald 0.16, to a RedHat 6.0 system (I know: not the latest).

Anyway, things are doing OK, and I am setting up Diald now.

I got the diald rpm from the RedHat system, the 0.99 version, and I install the RPM: everythinbg is fine so far!

I copied the diald.conf and connect file from my slackware system (in another partition: my system is for the moment a dual boot: slackware or redhat), and put then inthe proper place: diald def in /etc, and the connect in /usr/lib/diald. I changed a few things in the diald.conf file: the location of the connect scripts (it was in /etc/diald in the Slackware, it is now in /usr/lib/diald, and also the location of the log script (from /var/adm to /var/log)).

Now the problem started. I type diald, and try to connect somewhere, and nothing happen: NOTHING, no dialing, nothing. I check the log, and there is complain of tap? devices missing. I was able to crrect that by following what Ralph Clark <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote in June 99:

2) create character special device /dev/tap0 (I assume you'll only need one)
with major number 36, minor number 16
3) if you elected to support ethertap as a module:
i) add these lines to /etc/conf.modules (or /etc/modules.conf, depending on
your system):
alias tap0 ethertap
options tap0 -o tap0 unit=0
ii) run depmod -a to 'register' the modules

I did that, and the error was removed, but I still have another error:

Nov 13 21:56:57 gardien diald[1020]: keepup parsing error. Got token 'tcp.ssl'. Not a known tcp service port.Nov 13 21:56:57 gardien diald[1020]: parse string: 'tcp 120 tcp.dest=tcp.ssl'
Nov 13 21:56:57 gardien diald[1020]: keepup parsing error. Got token 'tcp.ssl'. Not a known tcp service port.Nov 13 21:56:57 gardien diald[1020]: parse string: 'tcp 120 tcp.source=tcp.ssl'
Nov 13 21:56:57 gardien diald[1021]: Proxy device established on interface tap0
Nov 13 21:56:57 gardien diald[1021]: Diald initial setup completed.

Now, I would like to know how to solve this problem. I do not have my diald.conf file with me (I am at work). Also the kernel I used is 2.2.5: the default from the RedHat 6.0 installation.
